Stretch Leveller Drive Systems

Eisenbeiss has developed a unique drive system for stretch levellers that offers outstanding advantages compared to conventional single or hybrid drive systems. The mechanical coupling of planetary superposition gears using a master shaft ensures efficient and precise power transfer.

The entire system is driven by a main motor, with the drive power being distributed to all the drive rollers by the master shaft. The different shaft speeds, which are required to stretch the strip, are generated by the overdrive of individually controlled drives. These variable drives, which feature a very high transmission ratio, use the additional degree of freedom of the planetary system, which enables fine speed control of the individual rollers to control stretching and compensate for different roll diameters.

The direct mechanical connection also reduces the electrical power to be installed by more than 80% and results in extremely high efficiency. In addition to significantly reducing overall running costs considerably because the main drive can be scaled down, less total investment is involved than with conventional systems.
