Ladle Turret Gear Systems
Ladle turret gear systems are subject to particularly strict fail-safe specifications to prevent serious damage to the continuous casting plant. Drive failure could cause the steel in the ladle to solidify, which would result in immense damage. Eisenbeiss has developed various gear solutions for this purpose that have been tried and tested for decades in harsh steel mill scenarios.
Our gear systems are characterized by an extremely robust design to meet the high reliability requirements of this application. To guarantee reliability, we implement integrated emergency drive systems. This is done either by incorporating a second drive, such as an electric or hydraulic motor, or by providing an additional backup reservoir on the main hydraulic drives.
In addition, Eisenbeiss gears are equipped with safety systems that absorb the severe shock loads that can occur while the ladle is being operated. These loads are either completely avoided by hydraulically decoupling the drive train during the installation process or damped by using special slip clutches.
Depending on the scenario and the customer’s requirements, we combine various stages such as planetary gears, worm gears and bevel gears to form a fail-safe gear system. Because it is modular, we can quickly implement different sizes of system, taking into account the ladle weight and the types of drive.

Advantages
Fail-safe
Eisenbeiss places great value on the 100% uptime of ladle turret gears and ensures this by integrating emergency drive systems.
Robustness against shocks
Thanks to hydraulic decoupling or special damping systems, our gear systems are particularly resistant to the often considerable impact loads when operating the la-dle.
Optimized overall concept
Tailored solutions using a modular system enable rapid adjustment to different re-quirements and variations in weight.
