Continuous Casting Line Gears

One of the most challenging things about implementing drives on continuous casting lines is that they are close to a strand of steel at temperatures up to 450°C. The high temperatures at the gear output shaft, dust and heavy vibrations, the huge volumes of cooling water from the secondary cooling for the steel strand, present extreme challenges that need to be solved in the tightest spaces on continuous casting lines.

Eisenbeiss pinch stand gears are ideally equipped for these extreme operating conditions thanks to their integrated cooling and special seals. Lubrication pumps have been developed that work without an external power supply and ensure that the gear system is lubricated reliably even in the case of extreme temperature differences. This ensures that the gears operate even in the toughest conditions.

In view of the very limited space available on continuous casting lines, the driver units are built with very compact dimensions. Eisenbeiss gearboxes use bevel gears, which enable the motors to be aligned at an angle of 90° in relation to the strip driver rollers. As a result, the motors can be flexibly oriented either vertically or horizontally.
