Genset Gear Systems

Eisenbeiss offers special gear systems for 60 Hz generator sets that enable the same gas engines to be used as for a 50 Hz grid. The speed of the generator is adapted by the gear unit so that a frequency of 60 Hz is achieved at the nominal speed of the motor. The single-stage spur gear system developed especially for this application provides the optimum solution for power outputs of up to 7 MW.

Our gear systems for hydroelectric power stations deliver the highest level of efficiency thanks to optimized gearing and bearings. They also have minimal maintenance requirements thanks to the optional Condition Monitoring Sensors developed by us in-house. This leads to a high return on investment and long-term efficiency.

Eisenbeiss gear systems are well-known for their low noise level which minimizes the impact on people and the natural surroundings. Whether it is for pit turbines or vertical water turbines, Eisenbeiss has the right solution. Our individually adjustable gear concepts, developed specifically for low-pressure turbines, meet all requirements in terms of space, installation environment and optimal gear ratios. We also take into account all the common hydropower malfunction scenarios such as short circuit, power failure and emergency stops. Our patented oil extraction system enables quick oil changes, which minimizes downtime.

Vertical Spur Gear Systems for Kaplan open-flume Turbines

This gear concept is specifically engineered to meet the requirements of vertical water turbines. The hollow-bored turbine shaft allows the rotor blade to be adjusted from above using the gear system.

Spur Gears for PIT Turbines

These gear systems, developed specifically for pit turbines, are characterized by their robust and compact design and are around 99% efficient. The optimized helical gearing and low-friction bearings contribute to this high level of efficiency.

Helical Bevel Gears for open-flume Turbines

In hydroelectric power stations that are housed in listed buildings, existing structures must often be preserved. In such cases, power stations with open-flume turbines benefit from an adaptable gear system design that takes into account where the generator is installed.

Bevel Gear Units for Bulb Turbines

The heart of an Eisenbeiss bevel gear system for bulb turbines is the hard-milled bevel gear which ensures the very highest surface quality and, combined with a housing designed for strength, guarantees low levels of noise and vibration.
