Efficient and compact solutions for dredgers
In a dredger, gears play a central role in several key areas. Eisenbeiss gear systems for suction line pumps on board dredgers transfer power from the diesel engine to the pump, which conveys the loosened material through the suction pipe. Efficient torque transfer and high efficiency are essential for conveying large quantities of material safely and reliably from the seabed to the ship.

If required, our gear systems can be equipped with a hydraulic clutch to decouple the suction pump from the main driveline. A mechanically driven oil pump, which is connected directly to the drive shaft, ensures a constant oil supply, even when the gear unit is disconnected and the pump is stationary.

The limited space between the engine and the pump presented a challenge that Eisenbeiss has solved using an exceptionally compact unit with high power density. All lubrication, cooling and monitoring is mounted directly on the gearbox, making installation much easier. In addition, our gear systems are easily repairable and can be recycled to a high degree, contributing to sustainability and cost effectiveness.
